I am the Prairie

In her newest volume of poetry, I am the Prairie, Joanne takes us to the subtle and underappreciated grassland landscapes of the mid-west. She blends non-human nature with the human in ways that tug at heartstrings. I am reminded of the beautiful writings of Robin Wall Kimmerer, Barbara Kingsolver, and Willa Cather. We settle into Joanne’s journey from her childhood in Illinois and other mid-west prairie fragments to today’s prairie restoration projects. Through her poetry she creates her homage to the Prairie over her time there.
