Introducing, a collection of poems by roxann A. Callender, a feminist scholar, who spent her first twenty-five years in the tropics, and has lived and studied in several European countries before calling western Massachusetts home. Her experience of dwelling among different cultures, her feminist scholarship bedded in women’s studies and philosophy, plus a full career in the area of information technology, has afforded her with a rich tapestry to draw upon for the content of this book of poems.

This body of work was created during the past decade and a half. It portrays her keen love for humanity as time passes, and she explores various aspects of her adult life. Most of the writings are charged with passion for life, nature and caring! Her earlier publications, includes a spiritual autobiography, A Mass of Her Own, 2001 (limited publication) and scholarly works, including Beryl Gilroy’s Fact Fiction, Callaloo 25.2 (2002) Published by John’s Hopkins University Press.

roxann is currently working on a new publication, where she draws attention to a certain aspect of a woman’s mental state, through the experience a mother has, when there is separation from a child or children; a concept she has coined as ‘Maternal Loss’ — release expected in Fall 2015.
